Cambodian and Lao officials agreed to establish Joint Trade Commission (JTC) in order to accelerate the economy across the border. It is a bilateral agreement between Cambodia and Laos, its objective aims to promote the expansion of trade and to eliminate trade impediments between the two countries, especially border trade, this will be encourage interacting cooperation between both private sectors, particularly farm productions along the border.      

In the previous time, border trade between the two countries did not meet that satisfaction, therefore, it urged for strengthening cooperation for both countries, especially ban on smuggling and the establishment of border markets in order to push development along border trade.

Cambodia has only the one international border gateway, Trapeang Kreal, in Stung Treng Province, which shares a border with Laos’s Dong Kralor, this initiative was good for future development at the border, because there would be more trade activity after the establishment of the commission.
