The main objective of this workshop was to disseminate regulations and procedures on certification of origin under the second ASEAN Self Certification Pilot Project and, additionally, to sound the interest from companies that prefer to apply the second ASEAN Self Certification Pilot Project, which will start on 1 January 2014. Three ASEAN member countries will participate in this project, namely Lao PDR, Phillipines and Indonesia.
The second ASEAN Self Certification Pilot Project authorizes the business sector to issue a certificate of origin intead of having to request certification (Form D) from a Government officer or an authorized authority as in the past, in order to provide facilitation of the business sector and enhancement of exports, as well as helping reduce the cost and time for businessmen and business entrepreneurs spent on document processing.
Companies who that interested in applying for the second ASEAN Self Certification Pilot Project can contact the Department of Import and Export to seek additional information of further details and submit the request for authorization of self certification of origin.
During the workshop useful information about the history, background and objective was presented, as well as all regulations under the project. The workshop was conducted in a good atmosphere and respect by the business sector. Some companies expressed their intention to actively apply for the second ASEAN Self Certification Pilot Project.
