In order to comply with government policy on the plantation of timber for export and facilitate business entrepreneurs by reducing unnecessary procedures for exporting planted timber, to conform with three development plans on authorization, and devolve responsibilities from central to local level the Prime Minister has issued Decision No. 41/PM, dated 26 March 2014 on the authorization provinces and the capital on making decisions on the licensing for exportation of plantation timber for round wood (logs) and sawed wood (processed). The office of Industry and Commerce in the province and capital is authorized as the main authority to consider issuing an export license for planted timber and the Office of Agriculture and Forestry in the provinces will take responsibility for certifying the origin of planted timber and also for the administration, inspection and monitoring of the movement of timber in order to oversee and prevent illegal timber trading, The Ministry of Industry and Commerce and Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry are issued with an additional instruction to disseminate widely the purpose of this decision.
