The workshop on “How to use the Lao Trade Portal” was the first time which was organized by the Department of Import and Export for the private sectors, aiming to build the understanding and disseminated how to use Lao Trade Portal for the private sectors to learn, especially how to look for information, search for information, search for commodity and tariff and follow the update information on import and export in the Lao Trade Portal. www.laotradepotal.gov.lawww.laotradeportal.org or www.laotradeportal.com

This workshop provide the main idea on this trade portal and other important information, such as the dissemination of the idea and how to use the Lao Trade Portal, the background of the Lao Trade Portal, the purpose and necessity to build the Lao Trade Portal, and give example of how to access the various information easily (such as law, regulation, import and export procedure, tax rate, and other trade related information.) In addition, it also released the market access information, trade preferential, CBTA, SPS and TBT focal points and other trade information. Besides that, the user can also send questions related to trade, particularly the questions on import and export through email and the web page of Lao Trade Portal.

In addition to the lessons on accessing the information on the website, it also introduce useful tools for users to follow up with the update information on the website, as well as easy subscription to be member of the website which the subscribers will receive the service, such as receiving news, announcement, publication, and events and new legal documents from the website through email of the subscribers when there is new news or notification on trade. At present, LTP has a total number of 990 subscribers.

During this workshop, the participants had showed lots of interests and learned the lessons on how to use the Lao Trade Portal actively, which indicated on participation of discussion for exchange lessons back and forth and energetically, making the workshop to reach its objective.

This kind of workshop will be organized again in the future to widely disseminate the information and to strengthen the private sectors related on import and export around the country. The private sectors will receive the update information by using the ICT equipment in order to have access to trade information easily as well as reducing the unnecessary cost on business operations.
