Customs Department, Ministry of Finance had issued a Notification on the Management of Goods Containers at Friendship Bridge I Border Checkpoint to Use Container Yard at Thanaleng Train Station No. 07972/CD, dated 25 July 2016. It specifies that customs checkpoint authority at Friendship Bridge I and customs checkpoint authority at Thanaleng pay attention to coordinate with Lao Logistics State Enterprise on the management of non-hazardous goods containers to park or store goods at container yard in Thanaleng Train Station from 26 July 2016 onward.
The notification stipulates that all incoming containers must declare transport documents at Friendship Bridge I based on Article 9 of Customs Law. After that they shall follow regulations and procedures as below:
- Containers of fuel, flammable substances, live animals and food items shall park and declare customs in details at customs checkpoint at Friendship Bridge I.
- Goods containers aiming to pay customs and tax, for goods meant for storage at the warehouse for more than 04 months or others goods which are prone to smuggling shall park or store them at Thanaleng warehouse to declare customs in details.
- For customs-tariff exempted products or goods for investment projects and for government, the containers shall park or store them in container yard at Thanaleng train station. During the installation of ASYCUDA, until it is successfully installed, goods which are being stored at container yard shall have customs declaration processed at Thanaleng customs checkpoint.
The notification became effective on 26th July 2016.
