Pursuant to a notification on the raising awareness of the reduction of using plastic bags for goods containers and other containers made of plastic, No. 2647/PSO.MOIC, dated 30 October 2018, MOIC together with concerned sectors encourage the shops, markets, and consumers for reduction of using plastic by using recycled materials or reusable bags (cotton bags) which are environmentally friendly and can be recycled. For the owner of shops, restaurants, and markets, they should place recycled materials or reusable bags (cotton bags) in areas close to a cashier in order to make customers see and want to buy recycled materials or reusable bags (cotton bags) for goods containers.

In addition, the owners of shops, restaurants, and markets should use consumer promotion strategy in order to encourage consumers to use recycled materials or reusable bags (cotton bags) for goods containers. For instance, if consumers do not take plastic bags for goods containers and other containers made of plastic, they will get discount 500 or 1000 Kip as appropriate or score stamps for prizes and discounts. Moreover, Industry and Commerce Office together with Provincial Natural Resources and Environment Office monitor and evaluate the implementation of the shops, restaurants, and markets and give a certificate to the best shops, restaurants, and markets which contribute the growth of economic development in line with green direction and sustainability.
